"Life on the green"

Today I had the opportunity to ReO on the golf course with my older brother Dan. Now that is time well spent, although my golf game would beg to differ. We had a blast doing what we do best just being brothers having a good old time.If you were playing the course we were at today I'm sorry if we disrupted you in anyway shape or form as we chased down squirrels with our Golf kart. Well it was a good day. Hopefully you are enjoying ReO as much as I am.

”ReO in Rememberance”!

 T
he smell of a fresh lit charcoal grill, the sound of gentle waves caressing the shore line, the echoes of laughter and chatter all around. Most of us would just simply call that “Pure Michigan”. Without a doubt one of my absolute favorite ways to ReO.

Its the weekend and you have been looking forward to your break from reality. This is the way many will kick off what we like to call summer. Although, not everyone will be on a beach, or grilling, but you can fill in the blanks with whatever “memorial day plans” or ” ReO’ing” you have in mind. Yet, there are many and I mean many, who because of what this weekend represents, get taken back to a reality that many of us will never understand.. The reality of unthinkable sacrifice. A reality that tears open wounds that we thought had become scars. A reality of true loss. So as you enjoy the weekend with the ones you love, don’t get lost in your activity and miss out on an opportunity to honor the “Ones who gave it all”! Instead I challenge you to

"Show me how you ReO"

We were only married for two years and headed into the Wilds of Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada. A place I have traveled to numerous times and facilitated larges groups through. A place that is so far from civilization you feel like your in a whole new world. Well, that is just it! I was in a whole new world. Going back to what I was saying about only being married for two years at this point, I was expecting to head into the "woods" on a trip separate from Katie. I really thought this would be best for the both of us knowing what growth and individual can earn and learn in such a Rugged environment! I was hoping Katie would have that opportunity. Lets just say God had other plans and we ended up filing a spot on a couples trip. I was scared out of my mind! I had to lead my wife through the wild (this is so far from leading groups you really do not have a connection with). I was scared of all the things that could occur, I knew that I myself could handle them, but knowing Katies love and passion for this type of adventure was very small, I was scared she would never in a million years consider camping in any way, shape or form unless it was in a 40 foot box on wheels with four slide outs and air conditioning and all her cosmetology needs met! Every possible scenario that ran through my head ended in camping being a thing of the past for my family. She paddled, she portaged, she hiked, she cried, she laughed, and most of all she never once COMPLAINED! WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! I was blown away at how much strength my wife had. That even when placed in such Rugged elements she trekked on! I was one proud husband by the end of the week..  It proved to me again I married the right one for me! We finally completed our journey and traveled about 80 miles that week by canoe and foot. She was tired, I was tired and we both were beat up but we were loving life and living the adventure together. Katie and I loved that we were able to Reo together in Algonquin.

I share that story with you wondering what adventures you have been on, and most of all where have you been able to ReO!?! I would love it if you would please share with me a picture and a caption showing us all.

Taking the Bull by the Horns!

While living on the western slope of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, I sat on the back porch of my Log home nestled in a valley composing of lush meadows a few ponds and beautiful rolling hills.... Being a newly wed I couldn't possibly figure out how in the world life could get any better. I had a beautiful new bride the home of my dreams, and view that only God could paint! Yet, after numerous conversations with Katie, we both new something was missing in our lives, and it didn't take long to figure out what it was.......
ALERT! ALERT! ALERT! ALERT!   PEOPLE!

Thats right, People.... You see, man was not meant to live life alone but in constant relationship with other like minded individuals.. We wanted people to share these experiences with, people to have a chance to wake up to view of the sugar coated Hog backs to the North of us, and the coyote pups chasing each other in the hay fields, the mule deer that would stand within a few yards and try and figure out what you are.. The Elk bulls crashing there huge antlers together.. We wanted so many others to have the chance to breath it all in..... So here is the mission if you choose to except it...

What ever it is that makes you ReO, find someone who may never have that opportunity in life and offer it to them! Give them an chance of a life time, one that will keep them ReO'ing even if that was the only time they ever get to experience it. Be a Dream giver and "take the bull by the horns" and ReO with purpose!
For without people its hard to experience the experience to its full!

Hot Dates with P.A.M.?????????

What is ReO? That is a very good question, yet you will not find the answer here or even at wikipedia.... The answer lies within you and the 3 Non-negotiable's. Lets start by simply defining ReO.

RuggedEdge Outdoors....
"Do You ReO"
(ReO- Really Enjoy the Outdoors)

Now that we have have that defined for us, lets look at requirements to ReO

HOT DATES WITH P.A.M.!

You (Yes that is right place your name here, this we will call step ZERO)
  1. Passion- What one thing do you hands down enjoy doing more than anything Outdoors, that if I called you right now and asked you to go and do, the world would stop spinning and you would be THERE! That is your PASSION
  2. Ambition- You must have the desire to achieve and develop personal goals that you have laid out from knowing what your passionate about. Do not hesitate to test the Passion waters and see if your in the right spot... If you hit the water and its nothing but shock reevaluate if this is really a passion. If the water feels great and the nerves are on full alert then move on..
  3. Mission- This is the scariest point of meeting P.A.M.! If you have commitment issues at all then you need to return to step 1. If you are ready to marry P.A.M. Then your in the right spot. This does not mean you can quit now, this means the battle has begun, the war has started, and there will be mountains to climb and valleys to cross. This is the point where you have reached what you want to be the Trail head and its time to start blazing.
Now that you have met P.A.M I encourage you to start taking her on a few dates.. I would love to hear your feed back in what your finding out.... Be aware though she can be a pretty lame date, especially if your a Boring person... Ask questions, Dream big, chase your Tail and most of all Start trying to figure out how to ReO...

Do you ReO?

The madness!!!

I am 27 years old, ready to go wherever the wind blows me. Yet deep down there is a burning desire to do something many would think insane, stupid, crazy, or just plain dumb. Something that words can hardly describe. Yet for me, it is purpose, passion, desire, and perseverance to accomplish the unthinkable. To take life to the level it was meant to be lived at. To have a warriors heart that is pure and strong ready to destroy whatever wages war against him. To be the IRON SHARPING IRON we were meant to be!
"I beat my body and make it my slave so that when the time comes and I have preached, I will not have disqualified myself!" 1 Cor. 9:27
This "Quest" of "LIFE" is something more to me than most will ever understand. Its something that has been in-bedded in me through my father since day one in pursuit of who God has called me to be. Who am I? What is my mission? What are my Goals? What does it look like played out? These are all questions I ask myself, and yet can not find answer too. It may be I do not search hard enough or due to all the pressures of the world I lose my focus but, I can tell you this much, as I beat my body to make it my slave, I will have plenty of time to search out the warrior heart in me.
Please follow me on my journey, I will keep you riding shotgun as best as I can to teach you what and how to REO! As the marines say "You are our Mission".....
